About
Necessity is the mother of all inventions, they say. My name is Shane and I am a late-in-life student turned designer, and later teacher. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to get a Masters of Architecture at the Boston Architectural College here in Boston. I was surrounded by wonderful teachers and students, all committed to a common goal–perse- verance and excellence.
My thesis project was one of the best personal and professional experiences of my life; it latter resulted in a course I began to teach a few years after graduating called, “En-abling Space”. The very nature of that course focused on the diverse needs of a wide array of potential users. I desperately wanted their insights and experiences to be part of the student ex-perience, but found that me potential pool of guests was limited. The lasting effects of Covid in terms of how we conduct design consultations/”reviews” made me think that the possibilities are exponentially endless in terms of who might visit with my class via a new online platform.
Guest Crit really is an attempt to broaden my own network of curious designers and fascinating creatives. This is a not for profit attempt to offer additional sweet spots in the world of design and architecture-the exchange of ideas and point’s of view. This journey is new, and I welcome the “critiques” and insights of those who might find value in what I am proposing. Send comments, send advice, send me an image of your favorite object. This is, ultimately, a continuing evolving endeavor.
